The Soldotna Police Department is at 44510 Sterling Highway, Soldotna AK 99669. The main line is (907) 262-4455. Fax is (907) 262-4421. For general questions, email policequestions@soldotna.org. The full SPD website is at soldotna.org/police.

To get a copy of a police report, download and complete the SPD records request form. The PDF form is available at the SPD records request form (PDF). The form asks for the case number, incident date, your name and contact details, and a description of the incident. You'll also need to state your reason for the request, though you are not required to provide one under Alaska law. Include the names of people involved and the type of incident if you don't have a case number.

Once you submit your request, SPD will contact you by phone when your copy is ready. Pick it up within two weeks of that call. If you don't pick it up in time, you may need to resubmit the request. All fees are non-refundable and paid when you submit.

SPD can deny a request if the case is still under active investigation or adjudication, if no record of the incident exists, or under AS 40.25.120(a)(6)(c), which covers certain exempt records. If your request is denied, the department must state which exemption applies.

911 Audio Recordings

Audio from 911 calls is handled separately from standard police reports. These recordings are held by the KPB SPSCC — the Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center — not by the Soldotna Police Department. If you need 911 audio, you'll need to submit a separate request to that agency. SPD cannot release those recordings directly.

Alaska State Troopers - Detachment E

Soldotna serves as the headquarters for AST Detachment E, which covers the entire Kenai Peninsula. The office is at 46333 Kalifornsky Beach Rd, Soldotna AK 99669. Commander Captain Maurice Hughes can be reached at 260-2706. Dispatch operates at (907) 262-4453.

Both Homer and Soldotna are major law enforcement centers for the Kenai Peninsula. The Homer Police Department, shown at cityofhomer-ak.gov/police, and Soldotna PD together represent the two largest municipal forces on the central and southern peninsula. For incidents outside any city limit, AST handles coverage and holds the records.

The Homer Police Department page at cityofhomer-ak.gov/police illustrates how both Homer and Soldotna anchor law enforcement across the Kenai Peninsula.

Homer PD and Soldotna PD are the two primary municipal police agencies on the Kenai Peninsula. AST Detachment E, based in Soldotna, covers the broader rural area.

To request AST records, contact Detachment E directly. Alaska's public records law, AS 40.25.100-295, applies to all state agency records. Agencies have 10 working days to respond. If denied, you have 60 working days to appeal that decision.

Kenai Peninsula Borough Public Records

The Kenai Peninsula Borough handles its own public records separately from city police records. Borough records include planning documents, permits, meeting minutes, and other government documents. Borough Clerk Johni Blankenship manages the process. Her contact is jblankenship@kpb.us or (907) 714-2160. The borough office is at 144 N. Binkley Street, Soldotna AK 99669.

Submit KPB records requests through the GovQA platform at kpb.us. You'll need to create an account to submit a request and track its progress. Borough records are separate from SPD incident reports.

CourtView - Alaska Court Case Search

CourtView is Alaska's public court case search tool. You can access it at courts.alaska.gov/main/search-cases.htm. The system shows criminal, civil, and traffic cases filed across Alaska, including the Third Judicial District courts that serve Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula.

Search by name, case number, or date range. Results include charges filed, hearing dates, dispositions, and sentencing information. Under AS 22.35.030, records tied to acquittals and dismissals may be restricted or removed from public view. If a case doesn't appear, it may have been sealed or the court may have limited access for another reason.

Alaska's court case search portal is at courts.alaska.gov and covers all Alaska trial court cases including those from Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula.

Trial Court Records and Certified Copies

If you need certified copies of court documents, contact the Kenai Peninsula trial court clerk. Fees are set statewide. A certified copy costs $10 for the first page and $3 for each page after that. A plain (non-certified) document copy costs $5 for the first page plus $3 each additional. If the clerk must spend time searching for records, research time is billed at $30 per hour.

For records at locations outside the primary clerk's office, use form TF-311. Kenai Peninsula locations use TF-311 for certified copy and document requests. The Alaska trial courts page is at courts.alaska.gov/trialcourts/.

Alaska Criminal History Records

The Alaska Department of Public Safety runs a self-service portal for criminal history record requests. Use it at backgroundcheck.dps.alaska.gov. The cost is $20 per report. Records are governed by AS 12.62 and cover Alaska state criminal history only.

Walk-in requests are available at the Kenai DPS office: 46333 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Soldotna AK 99669. Call (907) 262-4453 to confirm hours. The $20 fee applies for walk-in requests as well. You can request your own record or, in some cases, records for others depending on your relationship and purpose.

Daily Dispatch Reports

The Alaska DPS publishes daily dispatch reports at dailydispatch.dps.alaska.gov. These logs show calls for service, incident summaries, and arrests handled by AST across Alaska. Soldotna-area activity is included in the Kenai Peninsula listings. Search by date and area to find recent activity. The logs are free and do not require an account to view.

Sex Offender Registry

Alaska maintains a public sex offender registry under AS 12.63.100 at sor.dps.alaska.gov. The registry has more than 3,640 statewide entries. Search by name, city, or zip code. A 2024 update under HB 66 took effect in July 2024 and revised certain registration and notification rules. The registry is free to use and is updated on a rolling basis.
